Eagles Mere is on the National Register of Historic Places, 288 Eagles Mere Avenue, Route 42 at the historic clock in the restored general store. The information center is part of the museum shop and before you enter the six galleries of the museum.

—Hickory Run State Park – Boulder Field: is a 15,990-acre (6,471 ha) Pennsylvania state park in Kidder and Penn Forest Townships in Carbon County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park is spread across the Pocono Mountains. The park is easily accessible from Interstate 476 and Interstate 80.
Hickory Run State Park was chosen by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and its Bureau of Parks as one of “25 Must-See Pennsylvania State Parks”.[2]
—Briar Creek Lake: This 53-acre lake was built in the 1970s for flood control and includes a 173-acre park maintained by Columbia County. Fishing, boating, and picnicking are all available.
Briar Creek Lake offers several pavilions for your picnic fun. There is no rental fee or reservations for the use of pavilions. Some of the pavilions offer electricity and grills and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Please be respectful of others and clean up after yourself.
—Hometown Farmers Market: This indoor / outdoor market has been doing business since 1950. The market is located South of the Pocono region, 20 miles South of Interstate 81 in the heart of the coal regions on Route 54 West, just outside of Tamaqua, Pa. —Jim Thorpe: PA is located in Carbon County in the Poconos region of the state. It was originally known as Mauch Chunk and was one of the first coal boom towns in the United States. However, in 1954, the town changed its name to Jim Thorpe to honor the great athlete of the same name who is now buried on the edge of town.
